In Budapest, the Hungarian capital, 6-8 of March, 2011, on the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day, took place the Joint High-level Conference "Women in Science, Innovation and Technology in the Digital Age", organized by the European Commission's Directorate-General Information Society and Media(INFSO) and the Hungarian EU Presidency.
"This year's 100th anniversary of Woman's Day is a special chance to look forward by focusing on the female talent in the Digital Age.
The conference highlighted the important contribution women and girls are making in the area of ICT, technology and innovation. There was a special focus on how to measurably increase their presence across the board in these fields: in education, research and innovation, entrepreneurship, workforce and leadership roles.
European's effort to build a more sustainable economy and society through digital innovation depends on women's involvement. Their contributions will be critical given our demographic development and the increasing unfilled demand for ICT practitioners. For this business, government, and educators have work together across disciplines.
The School of Robotics was invited to the Exhibit, along with the Fraunhofer Instituite IAIS (the project leader of Roberta, Girls Discover Robots' project). The School of Robotics is Roberta's Italian Regional Center. We had a stall with pictures, posters, robots and many visitors.
